Permission to Use

UT Austin

The University of Texas at Austin permits use of protected logos and marks by colleges, schools, units (CSUs), and sponsored student organizations with appropriate prior approval and in accordance with the guidelines for each mark. The university wordmark files are available for download and can be used on printed materials in accordance with the Brand Standards Manual. The Longhorn Silhouette and university seal files may be obtained from the Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing upon design approval.

Logos and marks may not be used in any way that would constitute endorsement, approval, or underwriting of any corporation, product, activity, service, or contract by The University of Texas at Austin.

Learn more about the approval process for each of these units or categories: Academic & Admin, Student Orgs, Corporate Partners, Outside Entities, Filming Projects.

As explained in the units above, campus staff, administration and student organizations will use the Internal Request Portal to submit artwork requests.

UT System Institutions

Generally speaking, if you are affiliated with The University of Texas System or a component institution and wish to use a protected mark, follow these steps:

  • Determine how you want to use the protected mark.

  • Select a licensed vendor from the approved list of vendors for your institution.

  • Communicate with the school/department how the logo will appear (artwork, etc.) on the product to help illustrate the overall impression of the use.

  • Fill out and submit a request form on the portal or the licensed vendor will submit the artwork through Trademarx. Not all schools have the same procedure.
